Our tradition tells us that to have good luck in our new home, the first two things that must be brought in should be ';bigas at asin'; (rice and salt). lol! miss dulce said no rice, not little rice. so where do u get the 1 kilo or the 1 cup? a hypothetical Q is a hypothetical Q. Take it w/ a grain of salt. Yeah, so the salt is still there - so bring in the salt.


For the absence of rice, we have sweet potatoes, cassava, corn, bread, pasta and a lot more rice substitutes. Takes supreme agony of 'getting used to' surely... oh let's hope it's not gonna happen!!
A lot of Filipinos are doing that all the time, religiously following and believing what you called tradition and all sorts of superstitions but I doubt if it is working. Just look at the majority of the people of the country if you can ever call them lucky.
You only need to bring a cup of rice. But I don't really believe in that ritual. Whether or not you bring in the basic like rice, salt, sugar...if you just become idle and do not work, you will always have nothing.
Nothing, because even rock salt are getting scarce nowadays. Do you know that we are importing rock salt from India?





...or I might as well bring my piggy bank and a hammer first and smash it at the entrance of my new home.
Salt and a good old shotgun. Leave the salt in the new house, and take the shotgun in front of an NFA (National Food Authority) outlet.
Bring holy water instead.
well, i think our tradition does not specify the amount of rice, a handful will do.
salt and water...or the best maybe is before loading all your things inside the house...offer some prayers first,best goodluck ever tested.:-))

u dont need a sack of rice, 1 or 2 kilos is enough ; and a cup of salt too...
I'd say pandesal (bread) and salt.
