(1st storey only) The base will be brick. No snow here. Temp range 7-26 degWould you put Plastic Weather Boards on a new house?
I would not put plastic or vinyl trim on any house. I have been asked to put it on customers houses before, and I only do it if they insist even after I explain all of the problems I have seen in the past. It expands and contracts too much. You end up with gaps and cracking when it gets cold, and it buckles when it gets hot. I recently trimmed a friends windows with it, because it is what they wanted, and as it cooled down a few months later, the majority had cracked, and had gaps at all corners. It may work in some climates, but if the temperature range is great it will fail for sure.
I am assuming you are talking about solid vinyl trim such as 1x6's and not vinyl lap siding, but it is unclear as to exactly what you are planning on doing as a whole.Would you put Plastic Weather Boards on a new house?
Lots of people do, but I'm with c whatever his name is on this one.
I always use hardiboard siding (cement based). If you are going to spring for brick on the first story, do you really want vynal siding?
