We'll be closing on our new house pretty soon, is there anything really special you did to make the day memora?

and what was the 1st thing you did right after closing? We'll be closing on our new house pretty soon, is there anything really special you did to make the day memora?
We had a stiff drink and then went through about a week of buyer's remorse. Since then we have bought eight more times due to frequent moves. So it gets easier. We'll be closing on our new house pretty soon, is there anything really special you did to make the day memora?
Don't listen to the first answer and assume your closing will be a ';brutal couple of hours';. Ours was completed in just over 30 minutes and it was completely painless. Actually, it was very anticlimactic compared to the build up of waiting. If you have a good Realtor and a good closing attorney then it will be a smooth process.

As for the first thing, we hugged, kissed and I cried. If you're the slightest bit emotional then you'll probably cry too. It's a great feeling. Then we went to pick up my Mom and grandmother. They couldn't wait to see the house and we couldn't wait to show it to them. At that time we didn't do much to celebrate but hugs and congratulations.

After they went home we did something really silly. We sprayed each other with silly string. It sounds ridiculous but it had started months before. Our house was a short sale so we waited 6 months from putting in the offer to actually closing. Somewhere along the way we came across cans of silly string and made a joke about a little silly string fight. For some reason we bought them (we're a little crazy but it keeps things interesting) but didn't use them. I don't know when but at some point we decided to wait until we had the approval from the bank. Then we pushed it back until we closed. We had a green vs. pink silly string fight in the middle of our new living room. As weird as it probably sounds, it was a lot of fun. Then we celebrated in a more personal way. :)

Do whatever works and feels special or fun for you. There's no wrong way and everyone will do something a little different. It felt like a little celebration just opening the new paint cans and being able to put our own personal touch on the house. It truly can be anything you want. A silly string fight would be ridiculous to some people but it worked for us. Whatever makes you happy and feels natural is what you should do.

Good luck and congratulations on getting your new home. The day of closing will be one you'll always remember so take it all in. Don't stress about it as if you make it to the closing table then everything is all set. The first time you walk inside with it being your house is a fantastic moment!

I took the day off from work. I packed a picnic dinner and brought the basket to my new home with our favorites including a bottle of champagne. We flipped on the fireplace ( gas fireplace ! lol) spread out a blanket on the new hardwood floors and had a picnic in the family room. uhhhh then we moved from room to room and well..... you know..... :)
it will be memorable enough. Get ready for a brutal couple of hours.

if you have kids at closing double how awful the experience will be
