I'd never buy a new house unless it was custom built for me and I was there to check up on the contractors. The reason is that unless you watched it being built, you have no idea if it is a quality built home. If you buy a home that is just a few years old, the original owner will have worked all the bugs out. Either way, be sure to get a good home warranty. What are the pros and cons of buying a new house?
Suzy is full of it, but . . .
The pros of buying a new home is that you get to pick what you want in the home.
The cons, you don't know the quality until you the house is built. This is why you should ALWAYS research the builder, look at homes a few years old (not just the model).
Plus ALWAYS have a predrywall inspection - WITH A PROFESSIONAL INSPECTER.
Builders build differently. I'm always amazed at how many people NEVER researched the builder. What are the pros and cons of buying a new house?
Not sure exactly what you're look for, sort of a broad question. But if you buy a new house then everything will be new, so you want have to say redo the bathroom or kitchen or put on a new roof. A new house will thus be more expensive. You can also tailor the home to your specifications, or to an extent.
If you buy an old house, you might have to make repairs but the house will not cost as much.
If you do decide to buy a new house, don't forego a home inspection. Spend a few minutes with home inspector, they can tell you all sorts of things wrong they have found with a brand new house.
My favorite: the master bath shower drain was never hooked up, and the shower drained into the crawl space. Brand new house. Good thing the owner decided to check where the dampness outside was coming from.
A new house doesn't need expensive maintenance for at least 15 years (roof, windows, plumbing)
Its more desirable for resale
I don't see cons
