Help we've just brought a new house?

It is huge, and the interiour is in dyer straight of re redecorating. Problem is we've really over spent on buying the property and don't have alot of money left. I don't think I can live in just one room forever, the bathroom and kitchen can be put up with for now. Any ideas on what to do with a small amont of money Im on a budget of about 拢100-拢150 per room as a push. That's for wallpaper/paint and flooring.Please all suggestion welcome.Help we've just brought a new house?
Going through that myself at this stage. My husband and i are doing the house together, and it's our 8 month now, and our stress levels have been really bad because of not spending so much. I suggest you find some books from library about how to do your own DIY work, so that way you can economise and not pay builder's double the price to do your home. Also, best is take it easy, don't rush, you can enjoy your life instead of stressing out and making yourselves unhappy. Believe me, take it from my own experience, it's not the best time of my life!!! Good luck! - oh, by the way, i don't know how it works where you live, but can you borrow a loan and pay slowly as years go by to manage this house???Help we've just brought a new house?
Forget wall paper,Just emulsion the walls and ceilings and gloss the skirting's .
Congratulations on the purchase of your new home! I think your problem is common to all new homeowners - you've got that beautiful new dream home, and you want it fixed up just like you want - NOW!

I think the best advice I can give you at this time is to take a deep breath, settle back, and plan to take your time and try not to feel overwhelmed. Remodeling and redecorating take time, and definitely, planning and resources. Rushing into a task, quick decisions, and impulse buying could lead to more problems down the road.

No one can fault you for not having a new place ';picture perfect'; right away. So take ';baby steps.';

I think if I were you, I would paint your rooms a nice, neutral color. I'm not talking about a bland, ';blah,'; standard builder's

';off-white.'; No, I mean warm, inviting shades of beiges, pale honey, creamy taupes, lovely ivory tones, etc. In fact, you could work with this palette from room to room, doing one in a lighter tone leading into a room with a darker color of the same palette. You could also use this method with ceilings - the very lightest shade for the ceilings, a darker hue for the walls.

Study your rooms in natural light at different times of the day. Put up some paint swatches and see how it looks. Notice how it looks in the evening, as well, with your lamps and overhead lights. Pick a color that suits the room.

By picking neutral colors, you can change furniture, draperies, etc. if you want. Make the rooms ';pop'; through the use of your furniture colors and textures, art and accessories, wall hangings or murals, fabrics, rugs, etc. No telling what you may find later that you you'll, and you will be able to use it in that neutral room.

I'd be cautious with wallpaper, if I were you, unless you know exactly what you want and where you plan to use it. Even then, I'd be careful to keep the pattern low-key and neutral.

Are there carpet outlets where you can purchase at a good price? Could you refinish an existing hardwood floor, or cover tile or linoleum with a large area rug? Think of all your options.

I don't know anything at all about the area in which you live, but in my Florida, USA, city, there are lots of thrift stores, consignment shops, garage sales, big national chains like Goodwill and Salvation Army, etc. and I've shopped them all!

I am a self-professed ';Queen of Bargains,'; and I'm not at all embarrassed about using second-hand items in my home. I've found some absolutely fabulous buys at give away prices, and I have an eye for what will work and a knack for putting it all together.

So check out those flea markets, thrift shops, and etc. You may be amazed at what you can find.

Check out high-end accessories and art work that you like, then look for similar items in a modest price range. And check out those thrift stores for ';look-alikes.';

Take it slow, and enjoy it as you go! Don't feel rushed to get everything perfect in record time. Good luck!
It is enough. If you in the UK you can do that but only if you do everything by yourself. If you get to any big shop that sell carpets/flooring you can buy piece of carpet very cheap. You have to knew measurements of your rooms. Don't forget about all that goes under carpet/flooring. In our case we put carpet for less than 拢100 per room. You do need few tools is well but it is not that expensive. Wilkinson's and Wicks was our destinations on that one. Paint is not that expensive compare to the wall paper. Good Luck! The most important: you get your house. it will take a while to make it Home, my sweet home. You will be there
Well, since you use the symbol for Pounds instead of Dollars, I assume you are not in the US. So go to Asda and get some paint, pain the walls a color you want, the paint isn't that expensive. For right now, I think your just gonna have to stick to decorating the rooms and not furninshing it with stuff. Baseboards and trim is easy to find, just cut to fit. If it needs carpet, that may be more expensive. Good luck.
Its amazing what a huge tin of plain old magnolia emulsion can do its a fab base colour and you will be able to whip through the whole house in no time at all, and if you buy direct from a builders merchants you will save heaps, you will be able to buy bigger thus saving you a few pennies along the way to put towards yr flooring.

Once you have painted in this neutral colour why not just get a few accessorise with diff colours in different rooms.

Good Luck x
I think just a quick paint around with a cheap paint for now . why spend out money , It takes time to fix a house the way you want it . It took us 4 yr麓s to do our place, and that was starting from bare wall麓s. Little by little I would say , save as much as you can to do your house up the way you really would like it to be, We did room by room. just make it look as cheerful as possible for the time being .
Go to paint stores and look at their stock of mis-tint paint. It is where they have mixed the wrong color or the customer dosen't like it or never picked it up, etc. You can get some good deals if you find a color that you like.
I would stay away from wallpaper if you are on a budget and just go for paint. Maybe do some of the sponge painting or rag rolling to give the walls more texture. Here are some sites that might help or give you ideas!
