I just got a new house and upon turning on water, I saw leaks from my tub, toilet, and sink. how do i fix it?

When you say New House, I'm assuming that you mean you just purchased a used house, as a new house shouldn't have any problems.





You should probably call a plumber, as dealing with this kind of stuff can get involved if you're not careful. However, if you are like me, you refuse to pay for something that you can possibly do yourself.





Get a Home Improvement book and read it.


On the tub and sink, you probably just have to replace the faucet.


on the Toilet, you have to figure where the leak is coming from. If it's coming from the handle (like my house did when I bought it), you will probably have to replace the ';guts'; of the toilet. These are only about 10 bucks at a hardware or home improvement store. If the leak is from under the toilet, you probably will have to remove the entire toilet, and replace the wax ring that goes inbetween the toilet and the pipe. This is a major pain, if you're nver done it, I suggest getting the help of someone who has.

If you hired a home inspector, call him or her and find out wh ythey missed the leaks. If you didn't haqve an inspection, and bought the new home as is from the builder, you should have a warranty. NEW as in NEW?


contact the town plumbing inspector since they signed off on the house in order for you to move in.


there should have been a final inspection that he signed off on and he or someone should have seen it before you moved in


or as in OLD but NEW TO YOU?


Home inspector didn't notice?


you didn't notice before you bought the house?
There various places on each of those fixtures where you could have leaks. We can't tell you how to fix it if we don't know where it's leaking from.

let them fix it.....
each faucet has a rubber gromet inside the faucet, shut off water and replace all black gromets.





if its flooding the floor, you have a pipe problem, consult the seller
Call a plumber.
Call the contractor.
Buy your self a manual on home repairs.





Get one with a good section on plumbing.





There is no reason that you couldn't fix them your self.
You should have some kind of Escrow account or warrant to cover this. I worked on a ';Pick-up'; crew that went from house to house working on projects like this.
Is it new from the Builder? If so contact them.


They should warranty the plumbing for at least a while.





If it is new used, there should have been a home inspection that would have caught any plumbing problems.





If neither of the above apply call a plumber.
