What should you do first after you buy a new house?

Make it your own! Surely there is one wall that you can't stand the color of. Change the locks, of course. How about the outside? Dig in!

Or are you talking about the financial aspects? Home insurance is a must to protect your asset. Making sure that the house payment is budgeted in at the top of the list. Utility hook ups of course and why not get to know the neighbors?

Congratulations on your home and future! What should you do first after you buy a new house?
Make any necessary improvements to live there comfortably, personalize the house, install smoke alarms/ Carbon monoxide detectors,

Get the utilities turned on in your name, meet your new neighbors.

Pay down your mortgage to 20% so that you can avoid PMI and escrow.

Shop around for better home owner insurance rates. Call the local assessors office and dispute the assessed value on your home to lower the taxation on it.

Ensure that you have a protected cash reserve that will cover at least 6 months of expenses in case you are without income. What should you do first after you buy a new house?
Make a list of everything that come up during the inspection and figure out what needs to be repaired first. Look at changing the floors and painting before moving in, since moving furniture makes this really hard to do after. Make sure you know exactly who and where and how much the first mortgage payment is (it could be in 2 weeks or five weeks) Change your address. Figure if you need to get rid of stuff or add stuff to fill your new house BEFORE you move.
Double check any doubt you may have, specially if their is a time-line on it. Appliance's, furnace, etc. A peace of mind will give you better sleep in your new home.

Get to know your neighbors as soon as possible, they will help you understand any unseen event you may be unaware off.
i do not understand your query.

Have your postal address changed from where you were to where you are.

Move your utilities.

INFORM your post office.

send me a picture of you at your front door!
Don't do anything right away. Just get used to living in it, and anything that needs changed will become obvious over time.
