What is the reason for squeaky floors in a new house?

Chances are the new wood is still shrinking and pulling the nails loose. It can be fixed several ways. If there are cracks between boards that you can access, put baby powder in them. More nails helps, use ring nails. Screws are even better, use stainless. Underneath you can add screws and angle brackets. It's worth the trouble because it's a choice of squeeks forever or quiet forever. What is the reason for squeaky floors in a new house?

Loose nails in the floor boards.
Squeaking floors are caused by improperly installed floor sheathing. Usually poor nailing allows the floor underlayment to move when walked on with the squeak coming from loose nails. The cure is to roll back carpet and padding and use galvanized deck type screws to secure the wood subfloor to the underlying joists. Since this is a new house contact your builder for help.
often screws have been used on sub-flooring so the squeaking shows lack of glue between sub-floor and floor joist.
