What`s the cost per sq ft for a new house in the SF bayarea?

Nobody can build new houses here. There's no land left. 1,200 square foot condos start at half a million US$ and up. Average price for a 3,000 square foot single family home is about US$2-3 million. The rental market is not much better... $1,000-$1,500 per month for a tiny studio apartment. That's why 60% of our disposable income is spent on housing in SF, so we are either living in communes or we don't own cars.What`s the cost per sq ft for a new house in the SF bayarea?
