Ikea now have a website you can download a planner and then add furniture details to it( obviously only Ikea stuff but it might help. They do red suites so you can get an idea.
the colours you are thinking of sound great, BUT it might be easier to choose neutral colours for the main effect and use bright colours for the accessories as then if you get tired of a red suite it will cost a lot to replace BUT cushions, throws, lampshades rugs etc are cheap in comparison. Even paint is cheaper than a new suite. so it might be better to paint one or more walls red if you like that.

With the red suite I would combine creams and chocolates it will look fabulous!
There is a website called www.seemydesign.com it has interactive room designs that are quite useful.

Red suite with purple walls...
take it from the woman with a purple sofa--go neutral on the more expensive purchases! if you're like me, you may grow tired of the color after a while, and it's not exactly cheap to replace a nice quality sofa. go for the red chairs if you want, and accessorize with red and it will look gorgeous. and you won't have to feel too bad if your taste changes. good luck and have fun!
Wow Some many answers huh? Yes the best thing is to look at like a sample room try ';Got color'; on hgtv the best show to introduce you to color you would not have picked from a piece of paper.Then the have websites that you can go to find what you want to know.
Too much red would not be advisable. With me being the owner of an Upholstery Shop, and doing home interiors, I would use the 2 red leather recliners but go with a cream sofa with the deep red rug, cream curtains and cushions. There is a program you can buy to design your dream home but as of yet I have not run across any thing on the net where you can see virtual rooms.
consult any of the HGTV programs or Trading Spaces.
I like the idea of the wood floors and cream curtains and cushions but I think you should mix it up a little. A red rug would be excessive with all the red in the furniture and I'd recommend a variation of cream or rattan or something neutral colored and textured.

Cream curtains sound nice but they're going to be difficult to keep clean. An alternative might be thick venetian blinds. Still, I think the cream curtains would look better, especially if you use a nice iron curtain rod. If that's too expensive, then just a black one would suffice.
As for the cushions, hit up Target.

wood floor are great---if they are dark wood all the red you are contemplating might make the room smaller in appearance. I like the idea of the cream curtains and cushions---hopefully the walls are light in color also
i think red,cream and brown look great together, I have brown leather sofas, cream carpet,cream curtains and my walls are red and cream separated by a dado rail and oak furniture add some green leaved flowers to split it up a bit
You can do a virtual room planner with ikea on line, I think if its red sofa you realy want then, light wooden floor, beech or maple. I dont do cushions its something that just causes more mess and kids like to throw about. I would personally keep walls and curtains etc to cream paint, as gives room more of spasious feeling and red suite would stand out and easier to match
