If you have a diverter style tub spigot(one with a knob on the end you can pull out) the old owner probably took the diverter disk out to disable it.... Go to your local plumbing store with it and replace the whole unit 10-15 bucks .. Just turn it counter clockwise to remove, you may need a strapwrench or other suitable tool.. if you have a separate valve if got no idea!I bought a new house and the water runs for the tub but we are unable to get the water to run for the shower.?
There are two common ways to plumb shower heads associated with a tub. By far the most common is to have a diverter on the tub faucet; there is a knob which you move (usually by pulling out) which stops the water from coming out the faucet and forces it to come out of the shower head instead. Some installations have a separate valve to aim water at the shower head.I bought a new house and the water runs for the tub but we are unable to get the water to run for the shower.?
Brand spanking new or ';new'; to you?
A few times in new houses I have seen where the water to some items in a new house were never plumbed to anything.
Looked in the crawl space and the ends of the pipe were just hanging down there not connected.
My first thought would be to check the diverter it is probably clogged, stuck or in some way malfunctioning
wow thats strange... i would call up the previous owners and ask....
