If they are flies that hang around the garbage, you can buy some bait that works very well. I have used it commercially out side of bars and restaurants that it seem to do just fine.
Also, keep you garbage covered so flies can't breed in it!
Check the area around and under the house to ensure that there isn't a ';breeding ground'; that they are coming from.
If all else fails, call a professional Pest Control Technician...... try to stay LOCAL, and don't go with the large national companies though.
I have also found that you don't want to go with the ';one man show';, especially if the ';one man'; is fairly elderly, they are usually stuck in the ';way we used to do it';.Insects and flies inside my brand new house?
As a ';one man show'; exterminator (as the moron above referred to), I offer this advice ..The tight lids on garbage can is one good piece of advice, however, make sure they are cleaned on a regular basis as well.
There doesn't always have to be a ';source'; attracting them though. Certain times a year, the housefly is found in great numbers. Usually mid to late fall in this area. If the flies you are seeing are of a metallic green color, this could indicate something decaying nearby.
The common housefly only has a lifespan of about three days so they will be gone fairly soon. Your best bet would be to go to your local home and garden center and buy some bait traps. Hang or place these AWAY from your house so as to draw the flies away and not to your home.
If professional help is still needed then by all means, check with some of your friends or neighbors and find out which company they have used. Large,med,and one man shows included.Use the exterminator that seems to be the most informed and has all of the required credentials. Best of luck .
When you don't find the source, maybe install a bug zapper and leave it switched on until the last one is fried?
Or hang flypaper from the ceiling.
