The new fad in Europe is to convert pools to ponds. Many of the mechanicals of the pool can be used on your pond. Just think, a swim with the fish and water lilies with no more chlorine eyes. RScottWe like this new house but it has a pool we dont want a pool how much would it cost to destroy it?
If its an in ground pool the cost will vary greatly depending on location and weather or not you'd be willing to do some of the work yourself.
Unfortunately its not as simple as renting a jackhammer and burying the equipment in the pool with a bunch of dirt. This requires planning and expertise to avoid creating a sinkhole in your backyard. In my area of work, I've heard it can cost up to $10,000 dollars and as little as $3,000 dollars. This is including labor and permits from the city.
All this being said, if you're in love with the house, buy it and figure out the pool problem when you have time. There are alot of creative things you can do to an empty pool. :)We like this new house but it has a pool we dont want a pool how much would it cost to destroy it?
i just had my pool filled in by an escavator the cost was $7000
You really have to have someone look at it. If it is an in ground build a deck or something over it and it will have a basement. Above ground put an ad in the paper and someone will come and get it . You can sell it or give it.
Below ground? Two choices - fill with sand and rocks and sand and hope you don't get the mix wrong and end up with a swamp. 2) Rent a jackhammer and then backfill.
Cost really is a factor of location. And how much you are willing to do yourself.
I would reconsider buying the house. You're going to pay extra for the pool and then demolishing it would probably lower the value of the property. So you'll take a hit on the purchase and then on the sale.
That said, if you do it right, rip out the pool and refill it, then its going to cost a bit. If you plan to just fill it in with gravel, rocks and dirt, then it'll be much cheaper. Hard to estimate without more detail about the pool and type.
